Setting Up Your New Gaming PC — Complete Step-by-Step Guide

Setting Up Your New Gaming PC — Complete Step-by-Step Guide

Your GamerTech gaming PC has arrived from Vaughan, Ontario — congratulations! The excitement of getting a new gaming rig is real, and GamerTech has already done the hard work: Windows is installed, drivers are loaded, and your system has been stress-tested. Now here is how to get up and running quickly and correctly.

Step 1: Unboxing and Physical Setup

Carefully remove your system from its packaging. Keep all foam inserts and the box — these are important if you ever need to ship the system for warranty service. Place the system on a stable, flat surface with adequate clearance on the front and rear for airflow. Avoid placing the PC directly on carpet if possible, as carpet restricts bottom-mounted intake fans and creates static risk.

Step 2: Connect Your Monitor

Connect your monitor to your GPU — not to the motherboard's display outputs. This is a common beginner mistake. Look for the HDMI or DisplayPort ports on your discrete GPU (located lower on the back of the PC at the expansion slot brackets). Connect your monitor cable here. If you have a high-refresh-rate monitor (144Hz, 165Hz, 240Hz+), use a DisplayPort cable rather than HDMI for the highest refresh rate support.

Step 3: Power On and Windows Setup

Connect power, keyboard, and mouse. Press the power button. Your GamerTech system should boot directly into a Windows setup wizard if it is a fresh Windows installation, or directly to the desktop if setup was completed at our Vaughan workshop. Complete the region, language, and account setup if prompted. Create a Microsoft account or local account as you prefer.

Step 4: Windows Updates and Driver Verification

Before installing games, run Windows Update to ensure your system has the latest security patches and OS updates. GamerTech installs all necessary drivers before shipping, but a fresh Windows update may include additional updates. After Windows is fully updated, verify your GPU driver is current by opening NVIDIA GeForce Experience or AMD Adrenalin software.

Step 5: Install Your Games

Install your game launchers — Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, EA App, or whatever platforms your library lives on. Begin downloading your games. Your GamerTech system's fast NVMe SSD will have games installed and ready to launch far faster than older mechanical hard drive systems.

Step 6: Optimize Settings

In your GPU software, enable optimal settings for your specific monitor — set the correct resolution, refresh rate, and enable G-Sync or FreeSync if your monitor supports it. In each game, visit settings and configure your graphics quality level to match your GPU's capability and desired frame rate target.
