Frequently Asked Questions
When do I actually need multi-GPU?
Multi-GPU helps when your workload can parallelize across GPUs. For LLM training and fine-tuning of 70B+ parameter models, multi-GPU is essential. For multi-GPU rendering (Octane, Redshift, V-Ray RT, Houdini Karma), each additional GPU adds near-linear render speed.
What's the lead time for multi-GPU builds?
2 weeks or less from order confirmation. These are custom built to spec — we source, assemble, validate under sustained dual or triple GPU load (24+ hours of stress testing), then ship or pickup.
How does multi-GPU scaling work in practice?
For training: PyTorch DDP, DeepSpeed, FSDP, Hugging Face Accelerate handle GPU communication via NVLink or PCIe. Near-linear scaling on dual-GPU for most LLM training. For rendering: Octane, Redshift, V-Ray RT split frames or tiles across GPUs with near-linear scaling.
Power and cooling requirements?
All multi-GPU builds ship with appropriately-sized PSUs (1600 W to 3000 W Platinum, ATX 3.1) and high-static-pressure cooling. Dual-GPU draws ~700–800 W under sustained load; triple-GPU Max-Q draws ~900–1000 W. Standard 15 A 120 V Canadian wall circuits sufficient.
Enterprise or volume pricing?
Yes. We support university procurement, government, research labs, and enterprise IT with multi-system pricing, PO acceptance, and procurement-format quoting.
